Tyler was more than a brother—he was my big little brother, my friend, and someone who carried a light that reached everyone around him.
He proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. His passion for helping others and his ability to connect with people was something special. He faced life with heart, determination, and a willingness to grow through every challenge.
Tyler will forever be 429, and forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
After his burial, I remember driving down I-95. His song, “Dancing in the Sky” by Dani and Shay, came on. I was overwhelmed with emotion—crying, but at the same time, I found myself smiling.
I didn’t understand it at first.
How could I feel so much pain, but also peace at the same time?
Now I know—it was his spirit.
It wasn’t goodbye.
It was:
“See you next time, big brother. I love you.”
